Events: The Space

Our very own Victoria Nangle hosts Space, welcoming Doctor Who producer Philip Hinchcliffe and acclaimed writer Dennis Kelly

The Space, in association with Brighton Film School, is delighted to introduce their second event this August, this time bringing former Doctor Who producer Philip Hinchcliffe and talented theatre and television writer Dennis Kelly into the spotlight. To tie in with Doctor Who celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, Philip will talk about the darker era where he took the show into a more dramatic and controversial place; between 1975 to 1977.

Many fans argue this was the best time for the Tardis-travelling professional, starring Tom Baker as the fourth incarnation of the Doctor with some great classic storylines including Genesis of the Daleks and Revenge of the Cybermen. Since leaving this world-famous science-fiction series, Hinchcliffe has been involved in other popular TV projects including the well-known detective series’ Taggart and Rebus.

On this evening you will also have the opportunity to learn more about Dennis Kelly, best known for his writing skills in Channel 4 series Utopia. Kelly also co-wrote the very funny Pulling, the award-winning BBC Three sitcom. His theatre credits include teaming up with comedy musician Tim Minchin to bring us the fantastic Matilda The Musical; one of the most unique and delightful productions to hit the West End in years.

Something that makes this night that little bit more special is that it will be hosted by our very own Victoria Nangle, entertainment editor extraordinaire. She will be at the helm of the meeting of these two great minds, preparing you for a very interesting evening of conversation, anecdotes as well as answering your questions.

The Space presents: Philip Hinchcliffe and Dennis Kelly TBC, The Lighthouse, Thursday 22 August, doors open 7pm for 8pm start, £10/8
