Celebcity: Katie Price’s new arrival
Katie Price’s new arrival, plus Gnarwolves, David Beckham, Vivienne Westwood & Brighton love letters between Vivien Leigh & Laurence Olivier
Jett set
Katie Price has given birth to her fourth child, a son called Jett Riviera. The Brighton born glamour model gave birth to 5lb 2oz Jett, who was delivered eight weeks early by caesarean section after Katie developed a potentially life-threatening infection.
Jett Riviera is the 35-year-old’s fourth child and her first with new husband, builder and part-time model, Kieran Hayler.
The couple married in March. Katie Price’s three other children are 11-year-old Harvey, eight-year-old Junior, and Princess, six.
Katie Price said the C-section was different to the experience she had when giving birth to Junior and Princess. “Bringing life into the world is supposed to be magical. But what I went through was a nightmare,” she told The Sun.
Katie said her new baby was taken away from her when he was born, which made her feel
“crushed”.
“I wanted to be near my baby,” she said. “The only thing that got me through the nightmare was the thought of cradling my little boy.”
Here’s hoping the new family will be back at home and rested very soon!
Infesting the airwaves
A big shout out to local band Gnarwolves who have been hitting the big time recently and named ‘one to watch’ for Reading Festival 2013. The trio – made up of Thom, Charlie and Max – have infested the airwaves with their punk sound and played Redfest to great reviews back at the beginning of August. Speaking ahead of their Reading set the boys described the reaction to the band as “like, woah, genetic engineering has come a long way” and promised festival-goers “25 minutes of punk rock played by people who don’t buy their clothes in high street stores or borrow their opinions from rubbish magazines,” and just “So. Much. Fun.” Nice.
Love letters from Brighton
From Vivienne to Vivien – Ms Leigh, the celebrated Hollywood actress who played Scarlett O’Hara in the classic film, Gone With The Wind. The Victoria and Albert museum has newly acquired the Vivien Leigh archive in the cententarry of her birth. The archive includes many never-before-seen records including letters, diaries, visitor books, scripts and photographs. Of most interest is the correspondence from the troubled star and her actor husband Laurence Olivier, which sheds light on their tempestuous relationship, as well as some happier times in sunny Brighton.
Sketches of the two on Brighton beach accompany a love letter from Olivier where he calls Leigh “O Woosshing” and “Woolley Lambkin”, and says “O how I want to go to Brighton with you!”. Olivier ended up living in Brighton at 4 Royal Crescent for several years before moving to West Sussex, and was even given the title Baron Olivier of Brighton! What a healthy dose of Hollywood sparkle our seaside town boasts.
Superfan
So David Beckham – the one man we all can agree on fancying in the office – is apparently a bit of a Rizzle Kicks superfan. It has been revealed that the soccer superstar stopped the Brighton-born bandmates to tell them he certainly had them on shuffle. Speaking to BANG Showbiz last week Jordan said: “David Beckham is really nice, a really lovely guy. We met him at a boxer brief launch. He was nice, he said he listens to our music. We said, ‘We’re Rizzle Kicks’ and he said, ‘Yeah yeah, I know you boys’. I was like, ‘Cheers David’.” Nice one, boys. Rizzle Kicks’ new single ‘Lost Generation’ is out this week, and their sophomore album, The Roaring 20s, drops on 2 September.
Spotted!
Vivienne Westwood bringing some glamour to the fracking protest in Balcome. The typically outspoken first lady of punk commented: “I’m anti-fracking and I’m here to protest. There has been no debate. They are trying to rush this thing through, for what?”. We know one thing: protest is most certainly IN this year.
