Events: Brighton Digital Festival
Get ready for the city’s largest celebration of digital culture, bringing arts & digital communities together
This September is setting Brighton on course for an explosion of digital events covering the whole of the creative spectrum. From Sunday 1–Monday 30 September, you can expect your city to be deeply immersed in all things digital; from art exhibitions, performances and comedy nights to conferences, workshops and digital meet ups. One key event is the Wired Sussex Big Connected TV Conference on Wednesday 4 September at Komedia Brighton. Another which is sure to bring a crowd is the talk with broadcaster and journalist Charlie Brooker, following an exclusive screening of his incredible Black Mirror series at the Duke of York’s.
2013 is a special year for the festival as it will mark the exhibitions of some brilliant digital artists. William Latham will show his Mutator 1 + 2 exhibition at Phoenix Brighton while acclaimed artist Simon Wilkinson will deliver large screen projections to a live soundtrack in The Sound Of The Wind In The Trees at The Old Market.
This year doesn’t just welcome the artists, it also welcomes a stand-up comedy night for the first time, with David Trent and TV personality Nathan Penlington.
If you’re thinking this festival will suit the digital enthusiasts only, you would be dead wrong. They have taken great delight this year on providing fun activities for all the family from the popular Mini Maker Faire which returns for its third year to the Corn Exchange to digital firework displays, education programmes and opportunities for children to make their own computer games and animations. Make sure you get involved.
