Brighton man treated in hospital after robbery

A man from Brighton was attacked and robbed while walking through the North Laine area.

The 44-year-old victim was treated in hospital after being punched and kicked during the robbery.

Sussex Police said that the mugging happened as the victim was walking along Kensington Gardens in Brighton at about 8.30pm last Sunday (25 August).

He came across a group of people when two men are reported to have attacked him.

The victim said that they stole a mobile phone and cash from him.

Police have arrested two local men – a 23-year-old and a 43-year-old – on suspicion of robbery.

They have been released on police bail until Monday 21 October while further inquiries are carried out.

Detective Constable Sophie Tullett said: “I would like to appeal for any witnesses who may have seen an altercation in the street at that time to come forward.”
