Comedy: Comedy at The Con
Top-notch comedy makes its monthly trip to Lewes, with the pick of the fast-climbing comedy faces
Comedy At The Con, as hosted by our very own Dave Mounfield, just returned from the Edinburgh Fringe starring in the award-winning Big Daddy Vs Giant Haystacks, has now established itself as a cornerstone in not only Lewes’ entertainment month, but also a draw from further afield. With cracking line-ups time and again, it’s worth getting there early to baggsy your favourite seat, as the evening does have a history of selling out.
This month sees Gary Delaney topping the bill. A regular on Mock The Week, as well as having appeared on Dave’s One Night Stand, and Comedy Central’s Comedy Blue, Gary’s Twitter feed was nominated for a Chortle award back in 2011, such is the talent of the gagsmith. In fact, he is seen by many to be the natural successor to Tim Vine, adding a contemporary delivery to his pithy one-liners.
Joining Gary are Woman’s Hour regular Meryl O’Rourke, whom some might remember from the BBC’s Liquid News but was more recently heard on Radio 4’s self written and self performed serial The Hysterical Method Of Contraception. Apparently she’s also a favourite of Tony Blair’s.
Finally on the line-up is Joe Bor, observational character comedian, actor and writer who can currently be found warming up the audience for The Graham Norton Show and Mock The Week, and has previously been found working the crowd for Alan Carr: Chatty Man and 8 Out Of 10 Cats. Critically acclaimed – as all three indeed are – Joe completes this strong comedy itinerary.
