Side By Side

Side By Side is an insightful documentary focusing on the advancement of digital use in the film industry and the decline in celluloid interest. Keanu Reeves interviews some of the greatest directors and cinematographers of our time to gain a wider spectrum of opinion about their favoured method. What this film does is raise a fascinating argument for and against both types of filmmaking. Digital can mean less restriction and a wider range of movement and technique for some directors such as Danny Boyle. For others like big man George Lucas, money and profit seemed to be his driving force, while some directors fight to keep the art of shooting on film sacred. A thoughtful well conceived documentary. As part of the Brighton Digital Festival.
