Brighton and Hove fire service website vanishes

The website of the fire service that covers Brighton and Hove vanished today (Friday 13 September).

The East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service website has been replaced by a screen in the name of Register.com.

It invites the fire service to renew its domain name or others to bid for the esfrs.org domain name.

And it includes the questions: “Where did my website go? Why are these ads here?”

The replacement site says: “These ads appear on websites after a domain name has expired.”

Asked about the missing website, a fire service spokesman said: “There’s been a problem with the internet site.”

Specialist staff had been trying to restore the site, he said.

The fire service internet presence vanished the day after Chief Fire Officer Des Prichard presented his annual performance report to the East Sussex Fire Authority.
