Brighton man charged over seafront attack

A man suffered broken ribs, a puncture lung and broken bones in his face after being attacked on Brighton seafront.

Sussex Police said that it was appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The attack happened near the bandstand in King’s Road, Brighton, between 6.40pm and 6.45pm on Saturday 7 September.

A group of men were around at the time.

A 37-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Marcus Shanks, of Oriental Place, has been charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) and breaching an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO).

He has been bailed to appear before Lewes Crown Court on Saturday 20 December.
