Raise money for domestic abuse charity RISE

Rise & shine

Enjoy a family walk along the cliffs to raise money for domestic abuse charity RISE
Imagine a lovely, long Sunday morning family walk on an early October morning. Picture the light reflecting off the chalk cliffs and the sounds of the waves as you raise money for freedom from domestic abuse.

Join the RISE 8K Family Walk on Sunday 6 October. Explore the famous Undercliff Walk and marvel at the views from the cliff top. The walk is suitable for all ages, from babies in buggies to grandparents. You can even bring your dog! Marshals will accompany you, and everyone who crosses the finish line gets a fabulous goody bag and a shiny, shiny medal.

The walk is part of the RISE 8K series, raising money for local domestic abuse charity, RISE.

A mum of two, who sought help from RISE after years of abuse, told her case workers that they were ‘her angels’ who’d completely turned her family’s lives around. Another survivor said it was thanks to RISE she had the strength to prosecute after her partner tried to kill her.

Every year 750,000 children witness appalling scenes in the place they call home and 1 in 4 women will be affected by domestic abuse in their lifetimes. In 2012 RISE gave help and hope to over 1,100 people with vital support services like safe refuge space and counselling, solicitors appointments and play therapy. Money raised in the 8K series helps make that possible.

Feel more energetic? Try the RISE 8K Four Women Relay, or run solo and tackle the entire 8K.
