Giant Drag
Dubbed the ‘unluckiest band in America’, it hasn’t been an easy road for Annie Hardy since the release of Giant Drag’s début album seven years ago. Dropped by the label, struggles with drug addiction, band members leaving; you’d be forgiven for giving up on music completely.
However, distance makes the heart grow fonder. The warmth, both emotionally and literally, from the audience made this a bitter-sweet, nostalgic end to the Giant Drag project as Annie sets her sights on pastures new. It was a charmingly ramshackle set. Newer songs sat well with fan favourites like ‘YFLMF’ but it was Annie’s witty banter with the audience that made the night feel like a meeting between old friends. Let’s hope that we won’t have to wait another seven years next time.
