Fire crews tackle blaze in high rise flats in Brighton

Firefighters were called to deal with a kitchen fire in a high rise block of flats in Brighton.

Crews from Preston Circus and Roeean in Brighton and from Hove and Lewes were sent by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

They put out the fire within half of an hour of being called to the fourth-floor flat in Falcon Court, a nine-storey block in Whitehawk.

The fire service received the 999 call shortly after 10.40am on Wednesday (25 September) and had quickly brought the blaze under control.

They then used a high-powered fan to ventilate the flat.

A spokesman for the fire service said that the fire started accidentally.
