Woman sexually assaulted at Brighton music festival
A woman was sexually assaulted at a music festival in Brighton at the weekend.
She was dancing in the Supercharged tent at Shakedown in Stanmer Park at about 7.15pm on Saturday (28 September) when she realised that a man had his hand down her shorts.
When she realised what was happening she pushed him away.
Detective Constable Graham Lewendon said: “The victim did not see this man and we are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to speak to us.”
Police are also investigating an attack that left a man with a broken jaw in the Supercharged tent.
A 28-year-old man from Worthing was punched to the ground at about 9pm on Saturday and while he was on the floor someone stamped on his face.
He was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
Detective Constable Scott Moore said: “The suspect is described as a white, short man in his late twenties with a bald head.
“We are appealing for anyone who saw what happened or was in the Audio tent at the time of the assault to talk to us.
“The victim has suffered a fractured jaw in this nasty and unprovoked attack.”
Police are investigating another attack after a man was hit in the face with a bottle.
Liam Jones, 25, of Peartree Bridge, Milton Keynes, has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH). He is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court next Thursday (10 October).
