Hove cyclist seriously injured in crash

A cyclist from Hove suffered a suspected broken neck in a crash last night (Monday 7 October).

The 40-year-old cyclist appears to have trying to cross New Church Road in Hove when the accident happened just after 9pm.

Emergency services were called near to the junction of New Church Road with Park Avenue and Welbeck Avenue.

The cyclist was heading south down Park Avenue and appears to have failed to stop at the junction with New Church Road. He collided with a blue Fiat Punto.

Sussex Police said that he was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

The Fiat driver, a 24-year-old man, was unhurt.
