Knightmare Live

For any slightly geeky thirty-something, the mere mention of eighties and early nineties children’s TV adventure gameshow Knightmare will prompt fond memories of a true cult classic. Funded by a Kickstarter campaign, twenty years on, we had this, a profoundly silly stage adaptation, complete with shaky sets and all grown-up contestants dodging goblin attack and booby traps. Lead by comedians Paul Flannery and Tom Bell as our new host Tregard and the evil Lord Fear, tongue-in-cheek asides and knowing self-reference was sometimes hilarious. Combined with panto-style audience participation, this made for an entertaining evening of knowing nostalgia.
