Susan Calman – Out Of My Head

A strangely disturbing look at what makes Ms Calman tick, training her cats to appear on TV, being the last person applauding at a social gathering, and attempting to rid the world of mackerel. Calman’s show was a hilarious insight into what it’s like to be her, a diminutive Glaswegian lesbian comedian. Calman is a genuinely appealing performer whose comedy never appears forced or artfully set up. The material was strong and engaging throughout without the usual reliance on bad language or shock tactics. Oh, and she taught us how to sign our names by wriggling our hips, a surprisingly gratifying experience when practiced in the privacy of one’s home.
