Celebcity: Funny man Romesh

V V Brown, superstar Kylie, funny man Romesh, plus John Thomson, Dougray Scott & Zoe Ball

Back in biz
Hot on the heels of rocking Later… with Jools Holland, V V Brown is hitting our fair town this month and we’re booking our tickets now! We’ve been loving her brand new album Samson And Delilah, dubbed by Popjustice as one of the ‘albums of the year’, and she’s bringing her new sound on tour to Coalition on 21 October. Speaking to The Huffington Post recently, the Northampton born-singer explained how close she came to packing the whole music biz in until her friend, and co-writer on Samson And Delilah, Laurence Aldridge made her go studio shopping! We’re glad she stuck with it as we can’t get enough of her reinvented-self, which is somewhere between Grace Jones and Annie Lennox – with a bit of The Knife thrown in for good measure. Kylie Minogue in Brighton
I hear a whisper that the fragrant Kylie Minogue was spotted recently staying at the fabulous Drakes Hotel on Marine Parade… everyone’s favourite pop princess will be seen on our screens as a judge in the next season of BBC1 talent show The Voice. Make like Kylie and book in at Drakes – I’d recommend the room with the free-standing bath in the window… divine!

From Strictly Sequins to Pedal Pushers
Zoe Ball is hoping to swap her ‘Strictly’ sequins for cycling shorts to take part in ‘Pedal in Preston Park’ at the Preston Park cycle track in Brighton on Saturday 26 October 2013. The Strictly star is urging cyclists of all ages and abilities to get involved and help raise money for Martlets Hospice and the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA). The busy star said recently: “If work commitments allow you may even catch a glimpse of me on my bike!”

Take us to ER
Actor Dougray Scott, of My Week With Marilyn and Desperate Housewives fame, took to Brighton to prepare for his latest role in upcoming indie flick Last Passenger. The Scottish star, speaking to the Daily Record last week, explained how he trained in CPR at a Brighton hospital before stepping into his role as a doctor. We’re glad our local NHS has added a bit of celebrity sparkle to its name. Keep up the good work!

Romesh is Making us laugh
Fresh from his five-star show at Brighton Comedy Festival, funny man (and former Latest 7 columnist) Romesh Ranganathan is now gracing our TV screens, having joined Channel 4’s comedy series Stand Up For The Week. Tune in!

Spotted!
Spotted! Fast Show and recent Coronation Street actor John Thomson, who is in town performing alongside Claire Sweeney in the comedy September In The Rain at the Theatre Royal Brighton. The lovely John was spotted indulging in a pedicure at The Lanes Health & Beauty on Market Street.

Staff tell me he was very charming and he informed them he was in need of the pedi as he has to get his tootsies out on stage… Hope he doesn’t get Cold Feet! (sorry…)
