Doc Brown – Of Mic And Men
Combining funny rap songs and observational stand-up, Doc Brown’s ‘Of Mic And Men’ is an assured show from an emotionally honest and unique comedian. It’s a show of two halves, reminding me of a 90s Public Enemy gig: Chuck D preaching with Flavor Flav’s punchlines waiting in the wings. As the father of two girls, he’s got great material on everyday sexism, though it’s a shame he repeatedly raps the word “bitch” at the start and doesn’t address it later when he deconstructs “ho” and hip-hop. That aside, his stand-up’s old-school heart and soul. Rich T.
