Daughter

From the moment they appear on stage it’s nigh on impossible not to draw comparisons of this London trio with the XX. From the moody back lighting and smoke, evident throughout the entire set, to the soulful dubbed down melancholy the feeling is inescapable. Tonra’s exceptional voice bears such emotion across its range, it’s hard not to be captivated. And yet over the course of a full set, the sorrowfulness of her voice and lyrics is tiring. Daughter currently lack the extra string to their bow that will take them to the next level. Hopefully it will come, and then this daughter will fly the nest.
