Terry Alderton
He’s a bit mad. That could be the review, perhaps qualified with ‘in a good way’… As he pointed out, his look (tightish short sleeve black shirt, tatty jeans, bald head, big black sweatband) could be an indicator of the ‘what’cha looking at!’ variety, or the ‘hello darlin’ stereotype. And so it was with Tel, and EastEnders regular, you couldn’t be sure if he was following the script, or going off-piste, although recurring motifs indicated that this was controlled chaos. Whatever the case, it mostly worked, his superficially freewheeling, random approach going down well tonight. Despite the relatively thin numbers, and his barely concealed disappointment, this is Brighton, and we have enough surrealists to lap this stuff up. Athough he stumbled through the last 10 minutes or so, he came up trumps with his (scripted) two shoes talking sketch – a gloriously surrealistic end.
