Two bikes stolen in Brighton returned to their owners

Two bicycles which were stolen in Brighton have been returned to their owners by Sussex Police.

The bikes were recovered when a 24-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of theft on Monday 7 October.

He has been released on police bail until Sunday 3 November.

One of the recovered bikes was a Muddy Fox mountain bike worth £250 taken from North Street in Brighton on Friday 27 September.

The other, also a mountain bike, was taken from Refectory Road on the Sussex University campus in Falmer on Thursday 3 October.

Inspector Bill Whitehead said “This arrest was a result of information from the public and some excellent police work.

“Our job was made easier as both bikes had been security marked.

“I would urge anyone who has spent several hundred pounds on a bike to invest a small amount of time and money in security marking and a decent lock.”
