DVD Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I,II and III

So it seems Michael Bay will be turning his hand from robots to turtles of the ninja variety as audiences can expect to encounter a reboot of the 1990s live action franchise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. With this news fresh in our minds, it is important to remember that the original series has been released this week on DVD and Blu-Ray. Spanning over three years from 1990, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle trilogy saw these humanoid reptiles come up against various enemies from vicious ninjas and japanese warlords to their long standing rival, the steely Shredder.

For anyone old enough to remember the cartoon TV series and Nintendo games, these three films are a fair representation of its predecessors delivering comic violence, similar humour and an catchy ninja rap performed by none other than Vanilla Ice. You can expect to see these subway dwelling turtles doing what they do best; eating pizza, lusting after feisty reporter April O Neil, spouting phrases typically associated with 90s surfer culture and hanging out with wise rodent master Splinter.
