Two men attacked outside Brighton bar

Two men were attacked as they queued to get into a bar in Brighton.

The 18-year-old friends were waiting to get into Wah Kiki in King’s Road Arches shortly after midnight on Friday 1 November.

A group of men behind them began pushing and shoving to get themselves to the front of the queue.

One of the group then headbutted the first victim across the bridge of his nose.

The second victim was punched in the face and knocked unconscious before a group of men surrounded the first victim and punched him in the head.

Both victims, who are from East Grinstead, had to be taken to hospital after they were helped by security staff at the scene.

The first victim suffered a broken nose, two black eyes, a bruised jaw and a sore knee.

The second victim suffered a broken jaw which had to be operated on.

The first attacker was described as white, about 5ft 7in tall and of average build. He was about 20 years old and had long scraggly brown hair.

The second attacker was described as white with brown hair.

Detective Constable Paul Clements said: “This was a brutal assault by a group of men on two victims who suffered very nasty injuries.

“The queue was very busy when the incident happened so there were lots of people around who must have seen what happened.

“I’m keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack or who saw the offenders afterwards.

“Violence is not acceptable on the streets of Brighton and Hove and it is important that we bring those responsible to justice.”
