Fatboy Slim carries on, Rizzle Kicks wind up Huey Morgan, and we keep a close eye on Peter Andre

It’s a music special this week for Celeb City – a bit of what Brighton does best! First up is the news that Fatboy Slim won’t be retiring quite yet (phew). After securing a top three spot recently with latest single ‘Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat’ Fatboy, or as we know him ‘the lovely Norm’, revealed that he might have hung up the headphones had things been different. Norman promised his 12-year-old son Woody that if the killer track hit the number one spot he’d give up the music for good, so we’re kinda glad it was beaten to the top by Eminem and Rihanna’s ‘The Monster’ and Lorde’s mega hit: ‘Royals’. It was always going to be a tough fight for the gold medal, with Eminem’s comeback single with Rihanna marking the seventh UK number one for both artists, and Lorde’s ‘Royals’ becoming one of the biggest breakout hits of the year; Norm’s bronze was well deserved. We’re happy to know we’ll still be hearing Fatboy tunes for the time being, having loved the Norm since the ‘80s! Now how about Big Beach Boutique 6?!

Fun Lovin’ rizzle Kicks
Rarely a week goes by without the cheeky Rizzle Kicks winding someone up the wrong way – but their appearance on BBC2’s Never Mind The Buzzcocks recently really caused a stir. Acting as guest presenters on the popular music quiz, the Brighton boys brought their signature laddish style to proceedings, which seemed to rub 6 Music’s Huey Morgan up the wrong way. Morgan, who once saw fame as part of ’90s band Fun Lovin’ Criminals, seemed to take a severe dislike to Buzzcock’s mandatory ‘next lines’ round when the Kicks quoted some of his old tracks. Telling the hip-hop duo: “I thought you guys might do something different for a change”, Morgan seemingly got more and more irate as Harley and Jordan looked on confused. Finally the boyish banter got all too much for the radio DJ – who reacted by smashing his Buzzcocks mug on the floor. We’re told the mug will live on to see better days however, after Buzzcocks tweeted: “Don’t judge @HueyMorgan too harshly. He paid the #NMTB mug’s medical bills and it’s making a great recovery.” Aww, we’re not too sure which mug we feel more sorry for…

The best of Pete
OK, so let’s get to the important stuff – the music news we’ve all been waiting for… Forget about Fleetwood Mac reuniting, or Simon Cowell actually getting someone pregnant, nope – this week all we want to know about it is: Peter Andre’s new tour dates! Having a proud owner of a Peter Andre 2013 calendar in the office (this month’s page shows the Aussie singer getting stuck into some serious press ups) we like to keep abreast of his busy schedule. This marks the pop-star’s first major UK tour in two years, following the release of his top 20 album Angels And Demons. Pete has promised his new tour will include his hits ‘Mysterious Girl’ and ‘Behind Closed Doors’, plus songs from his previous studio albums Revelation, Accelerate and Angels And Demons. Commenting on the upcoming gigs Pete explained: “I cannot wait to get back out on the road again. Everyone knows that touring is my absolute favourite thing and I am so lucky that I get to do it all over again in 2014. You guys better get ready because this tour is going to be the best yet.” We can only hope. Catch Peter at the Brighton Centre next October.

And finally, a non-music story! A massive congratulations to the fabulous Fergal and remarkable Rosie from Trevor Sorbie Brighton who have just both been promoted by Trevor himself. Fergal who is now a Top Stylist, was a finalist in the Men’s Image Award at the L’Oréal Colour Trophy this year, while Rosie, who has been promoted to Senior Top Stylist, was runner up in the same competition in 2012.
