Laura Veirs

Anyone who’s listened to Laura Veirs’ records will know her contemporary country sound that’s delivered with delicate, warm tones and endearing harmonies. But that sound did not translate well in the live setting and left many wanting. It wasn’t all bad and some songs shone through but that made other numbers feel unrehearsed. There were some obvious bad calls – such as no bass on songs that needed it and the vocals drowned out on others. Support act Led To Sea looped and layered her viola lines nicely and showcased her strong voice. Despite the gig, acoustic lovers shouldn’t be put off checking out Laura Veir’s albums.
