Chase & Status

Drum and bass has always been a firm favourite in Brighton clubland. Over the years, artists such as this Friday’s headliners of The Brighton Centre, have graced many a venue from Concorde2 to old favourites such as The Beach and Ocean Rooms.

This event however, was all about the leaders of the UK bass music movement and currently one of the biggest live acts of the past few years – Chase & Status.

They dominated, they played loud, fast, eclectic and energetic. Drum and bass, house, garage, hip-hop and dubstep beats guided by the infamous duo and MC Rage, took the crowd on a journey through rave culture.

With a selection across all of their albums, classic breaks and bass reigned supreme over Brighton’s biggest music arena. Stand out moments were the anthems ‘Time’ with the beautifully laced Delilah vocal and ‘Machine Gun’ with Kanye’s mate Pusha T in tow.

An unmatched progression for two DJ/producers once firmly in the UK underground drum and bass scene, who have managed to take on live music headlining venues from The Brighton Centre to The O2. Who knows maybe they are destined for a headline slot on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 2014?
