5ive: Greatest Hits Tour

A fun flashback to 1997 but with mobile phones instead of whistles; yes, there were even posters. I was ridiculed for going (by older, mainly males, not necessarily wiser people) but for fans who grew up with 5ive this was a fantastic nostalgic show. They sang the ballads but focused on what they’re great at: funk and pop-rock. I wasn’t feeling the love for support act Charlee (sorry!) and more money could have been spent on an inventive set – or even a screen. A bland backdrop where the only effects were with the lighting left the show lacking punch. 5ive, now ‘four’, still had the energy to whip the largely female crowd into a frenzy.
