New super fast 10km run on Brighton Marathon Weekend

The organisers of the Brighton Marathon, Grounded Events, are launching a 10km event in conjunction with the Marathon on April 6, 2014.

The race starts 30 minutes before the Marathon in Preston Park and follows a flat, fast city centre route with the final three kilometres along the seafront.

The new promotion is part of the further development of the Brighton Marathon Weekend.

The course has been specifically designed to produce fast times.

“We are thrilled to be able to grow the events taking place as part of the Brighton Marathon Weekend,” said Race Director Tom Naylor.

“We’ve shown over four years that the Brighton Marathon course is fast with great crowds in a fantastic setting.

“We plan to use these three elements to build a 10km that is a must do for all levels of runner.”

The Brighton Marathon weekend begins on Friday 4 April with the two-day action packed Exhibition in the Brighton Centre.

Saturday sees the ICONIQ Shlurp! Mini Mile Races begin at 11.00am from Preston Park and the weekend culminates on Sunday with the Marathon.

Entries for the 10km go live on Wednesday 15 January and 2000 places will be on offer, priced at £30.

Each runner will receive a medal, T-shirt, goody bag and an experience to remember.

Only UK athletes will be allowed to run for prize money and compete in the elite race.

Race packs will be collected at the Brighton Marathon Exhibition on Friday 4 or Saturday 5 April.

The fifth Brighton Marathon, an IAAF Bronze label event, takes place Sunday 6 April 2014.
