The Dismemberment Plan
There seems to be something of a ’90s American indie revival at the moment, with bands like Pavement and Neutral Milk Hotel reforming and touring, and although ‘D-Plan’s’ new album might have received mixed reviews, the live experience is still fantastic. Highly technical, complex drumming, and melodic basslines underlined Travis Morrison’s distinctive boyish spoken word voice, and different shades were added from keyboard effects, highlighting the importance of innovation and freshness in guitar music. The band expertly switched between angular rock to poppy numbers with dexterous skill and ability and a stage invasion from the crowd at the end perfectly capped off a fun, spirited performance.
