Perfect the plum lip with Brighton Make Up School
Hayley Pinker helps you perfect the plum lip for Christmas
There are some wonderfully glamorous make up trends around for the Christmas party season this year. Most notably, dark plum lips, which have worked their way from the catwalk to become one of the top 2013 winter make up trends.
However, dark lips can look messy and flat unless proper preparation for
the make up has been applied. Remember to always take your lipstick with you for touch ups throughout the night. Follow these tips for perfect, neat plum lips:
Always use a lip liner. There is no getting away from the fact that lip liner provides the perfect scaffolding for all lipstick. Lip liner should always be the same colour as your chosen lipstick although it can be a shade or so darker. By applying lip liner over the whole lips, this can help lipstick last longer.
Neaten and clean up your dark lips by carefully applying a concealer with a square flat brush around the lip line. Not only will this conceal any lipstick marks that may have escaped, it will also make the lips ‘pop’ and appear fuller. Just be careful not to touch the lipstick with your brush otherwise the skin around your lips will turn purple!
Add a shimmery highlight between the cupid’s bow and a little under the middle of the bottom lip. This again will make your lips look fuller. Using a nice shimmer powder, rather than matte, will add another dimension to your lips.
