Public Service Broadcasting
Public Service Broadcasting have sold out their last two gigs in Brighton and from the late 20s-40-something audience they’re definitely a word-of-mouth band. J. Willgoose Esq. (banjo, keyboards, computer, guitar, everything but the final brass), Wrigglesworth (drums) and Mr B (AV) weave samples of old public information films and archive footage around brilliant live musicianship to create a unique experience designed to Inform – Educate – Entertain. There’s no denying their skill, but compared to the fun of Cassette Boy or the trance of Stereolab, live, it’s oddly soulless. Opening track ‘London Can Take It’ is still amazing though.
