Cove Hair, based in the Hilton Brighton Metropole, is the most stylish approach to take this festive season

The doors to Cove Hair have only been open a year, but in that short time, owners Phil and Sara have created a stylish sanctuary for clients in the ever popular Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel. Its location, without a prominent shop front, means it can go unnoticed to the public, but Cove isn’t just for hotel guests. One year on, having built up a strong styling team and a picture-perfect vintage look for Cove, Phil is ready to shout from the roof that they are here.

Cove is already well known in business and charity circles in the city, having styled the models for a charity catwalk show earlier this year. The team worked with vintage clothing store Beyond Retro, who provided the clothes for the show, to support local children’s charity Rockinghorse. This year saw the Cove Hair Team also sponsor Miss Sussex 2013, styling the hair of the contestants – no doubt creating an even more difficult job for the judges.

Not one to sit back and relax, Phil has already signed Cove up to style the finalists of Miss Sussex 2014 on 29 March next year. The team are no strangers to styling hair for catwalk shows and photoshoots. At the same time, their ethos is very much ‘be local, buy local’, as evidenced in their work with local shops and charities. Phil founded the independent salon, but the four stylists, Jenny, Chyrese, Paul and Justin, are actively involved in the daily running and future plans of Cove. As a businessman, Phil wanted to create fair opportunities for the team, and has created a team environment that is relaxed and welcoming for their clients.

The salon has a chic, vintage vibe, with a sweet stand at reception, ornate-framed mirrors, old fashioned pictures on the wall and even tea served up in teapots. This is relaxed vintage at its best, a look that is mirrored in the styles created by the team. Wedding hair is Jenny’s speciality, and with a vintage twist, a look can easily go from ‘every day’ to ‘special occasion’. Whether it’s curls, an up-do or a style adorned with accessories, Cove work to make your special day memorable, with their inimitable, distinct style.

Meet the team

Justin
A professional, meticulous service is guaranteed for Justin’s clients. He has 14 years of knowledge in both styling and colour and loves to create a range of styles from a bouncy blow-dry to a sleek, smooth style. Justin is personable and engaging – his clients leave with enviable hair and an infectious smile.

Paul
With 10 years’ experience in the hair-dressing industry, Paul is a creative force who loves every aspect of hairdressing but particularly enjoys creating short hair styles. If the salon chair makes you nervous, Paul’s cheeky sense of humour will quickly put you at ease!

Jenny
Jenny is the youngest member of the Cove stylist team but she’s already built up a great portfolio, which includes styling for London Fashion Week. ‘Hair up’ styles are her speciality, making Jenny the go-to girl for special occasion hair, including wedding up-dos. She is also a qualified Racoon hair extension technician, perfect if you’re after natural looking, thicker and longer locks for Christmas.

Chyrese
In 13 years, Chyrese has covered all aspects of hairdressing, from working with a London-based salon group to photoshoots and hair shows. If you have untamed curly hair you feel you can’t do anything with, then Chyrese is the stylist for you, as working with curly hair is her passion alongside contemporary men’s cuts.

Steph
Salon Assistant Steph is the newest addition to the Cove team. She assists the other stylists to ensure the smooth running of the salon at all times. Likewise, the team are supporting her in her NVQ training. Once qualified, Steph hopes to join the Cove stylist team.
