Firefighters rescue occupant from blaze at Portslade flat

Firefighters rescued one person from a blaze in a basement flat in Portslade yesterday afternoon (Sunday 8 December).

Crews from Hove and Preston Circus in Brighton put out the fire.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called out to a flat fire in Portslade following reports of people trapped inside.

“Hove and Brighton firefighters were called out to Foredown Road, Portslade, at 2.58pm yesterday.

“A neighbour alerted East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service to the fire, after spotting smoke coming from the building.

“Crews wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to tackle the fire and led one person to safety.”
