Laughing Horse Comedy
A typically diverse line-up graced the cosy Laughing Horse this week. Compere Sajeela Kershi’s audience interactions struck a balance of mockery and warmth; and getting things off to a roaring start, young Welshman Robin Morgan’s easy confidence saw him skilfully hopping between topics, from observations on his homeland to edgier and downright rude material, and the deliciously cruel baiting of a first-date couple (who, testament to his likeability, took it gamely). Neither David Jesudason nor club regular Sami Stone quite matched this success, however each brought some enjoyable and unique moments. Headliner Suzy Bennett’s energetic persona reignited the atmosphere, with her volley of shameless anecdotes including an account of sordid deeds in Madame Tussauds. Although it peaked in the opening set, the eclectic bill created an entertaining evening with some surprises.
