The Electric Soft Parade & Dancing Years
Odd choice for a venue, incongruous with the hormonal rock that propelled ESP into the early 2000’s, but the Unitarian Church gives their later, more contemplative material space to soar. After a decade sharing stages, the White brothers work so well together it’s like watching one singer split in two, squinting into adjacent mics with pained sincerity. It’s almost offensive that they’re not better known, and it’s definitely, definitely, definitely worth catching the coming tour if you can. Especially as they’re supported by Leeds sorrowsmiths Dancing Years, whose drawn-out melodies throb with the melancholic fever of a long, slow break-up.
