Brighton seafront bar closes after ten years

A prominent Brighton seafront bar and restaurant has closed after ten years, according to the Brighton and Hove Independent.

The free weekly newspaper said that the Terraces Bar and Grill in Madeira Drive had closed to make way for an ambitious plan for the site.

It quoted an email to customers from sales manager Ian Baker saying: “It is with great sadness that we announce that the Terraces Bar and Grill will close on Sunday 8 December.

“Brighton Seafront Regeneration, our landlord, has taken the decision to redevelop our unit in order to realise their future vision for the wider development.

“Going forward Terraces Bar and Grill will regrettably not play a part in this vision.

“We apologise for the short notice which has been out of our control due to protracted negotiations.

“Those bookings due to take place after the closure date will have their deposits repaid in full and we apologise sincerely for any inconvenience caused.

“We will do our utmost to assist with alternative venues wherever possible.

“Your understanding is greatly appreciated and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers who have supported us over the last ten years.”

The Brighton and Hove Independent said that customers were advised to contact the Foundation Group. The company operated the Terraces as part of its portfolio of pubs, bars, restaurants and hotels in Britain, Belgium and the Netherlands.
