Boyzone

With Jessica Clemmens in support, who wowed us with her beautiful vocals, twenty years on, Boyzone are often asked who would go and see them now? “Our old fans” is their answer, and this was evident in the audience turnout. The good thing is, Boyzone have matured too, not relying on dressing as their mid-’90s selves and rehashing old dance moves. The entire show, from the set and dancers to the outfits and lighting, mirrored their experience, familiarity with each other, grown-up style – and most importantly, their ballads perfectly. In a moving tribute to fifth group member the late Stephen Gately, we were taken through joy, grief and back to celebrating. Twenty years in the business is no small feat, and they’ve grown themselves, which is marvellous to witness. The only downside was too much video footage; guys, we know how far you’ve come as you’ve taken us along for the ride.
