Three-car crash in Portslade causes rush-hour jam
Three cars crashed at Southern Cross on Monday afternoon (16 December) and added to rush-hour tailbacks.
The accident happened by the A293 and A270 junction – the crossroads where Locks Hill and Trafalgar Road meet Old Shoreham Road.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters cut one person free from wreckage following a road traffic collision in Portslade involving three cars.
“One person became trapped and once released by crews was left in the care of paramedics.
“Four crews from Hove and Preston Circus attended the incident in Locks Hill.”
Sussex Police said: “At 5pm on Monday 16 December three cars collided in Locks Hill, Portslade, at the junction with Old Shoreham Road.
“The driver of one of the cars, a 47-year-old local man, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital to be treated for a neck injury.
“No update has been received from the hospital since but the injury was not assessed as life threatening.”
