Man with broken arm robbed outside hospital in Brighton

A cowardly thief jumped out of a taxi and robbed a hospital patient in Brighton.

He mugged his 19-year-old victim in Eastern Road, outside the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Kemp Town, last Saturday (14 December).

The attack happened at about 2pm after the victim, from Eastbourne, had been at the hospital with his girlfriend.

He had had an appointment for a check-up on his arm which was broken and in a cast when he was attacked.

The mugger knocked him to the ground from behind, punched him in the face and took his phone before running off.

A member of the public chased the thief to Paston Place but he escaped.

Detective Sergeant Steve French, of Brighton and Hove CID, said: “This was a cowardly attack when the victim had his back turned and his arm in a cast.

“I’m keen to speak to anyone who saw or heard the attack or saw the robber running off afterwards. If you know anything at all, please contact us.”
