Dog walker attacked in Brighton street

A 41-year-old man was attacked in Brighton yesterday (Thursday 26 December) while walking his dog.

Sussex Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a 41-year-old local man who was attacked at the junction of Egremont Road and West Drive, Brighton, on Boxing Day.

“The victim was walking with his dog towards Queen’s Park when he was approached by a man and a woman at about 4.45pm.

“After a verbal argument the man punched the victim in the face causing a deep wound 5in long on his left cheek.

“The victim was treated for his injury at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.”

The suspect was described as white, aged in his twenties and wearing a jumper.

Detective Constable Darran Newman said: “The motive for this assault is not clear at present and anyone who saw what happened is asked to call us.”
