Hove hit-and-run suspect arrested
A man has been arrested after a hit-and-run crash in Hove left a 16-year-old boy with a serious eye injury.
The teenager, who was travelling as a passenger in a taxi, needed surgery to save his sight.
said: “Police have arrested a 24-year-old London man and recovered a vehicle from an address in London in relation to a hit-and-run collision at the junction of Church Road and Sackville Road, Hove, at 11.09pm on Christmas Day.
“The man has been released on bail until February while inquiries continue.
“The collision involved a blue Skoda Octavia taxi and a silver Vauxhall Insignia which left the scene.
“A teenage boy who was a passenger in the taxi suffered serious head injuries and has since undergone surgery in an effort to save the sight in his right eye.
“The taxi driver sustained minor injuries.
“Officers are still keen to speak to anyone who saw the collision or who may have seen the silver Vauxhall being driven in the Hove area afterwards.”
