Deadline looms to apply for Brighton and Hove primary school places
The deadline to apply for a place at one of Brighton and Hove’s 55 state primary schools is next Wednesday (15 January).
About 2,850 children are due to start school in September with 2,970 places available. A number of schools are oversubscribed while others have spare capacity.
So Brighton and Hove City Council is urging parents to apply by the 3pm deadline on Wednesday or risk disappointment.
The council said: “Deadline day is fast approaching for school place applications for children due to start primary school in Brighton and Hove next September.
“Applications for the city’s primary, infant and junior schools and free school for September must be submitted by Wednesday 15 January at 3pm.
“Failure to meet the deadline could mean that your child does not get offered a place at one of your preferred schools – even if you have another child already at the school.”
Parents can apply online at www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/schooladmissions.
The web page includes guidance and advice as well as information on home to school distances to help those parents who want to work which is their nearest school.
Parents who do not wish to apply online can call the council’s school admissions team on 01273 293653 for a hard copy of the application pack.
Parents who feel they need extra help – perhaps because English is not their first language or they have only just moved to the city – can phone 01273 290355 for impartial support.
