Woman treated after kitchen fire in Woodingdean

A woman was treated with oxygen after breathing in smoke as fire damaged a kitchen in Woodingdean yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 15 January).

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that crews were sent from Roedean in Brighton and from Newhaven to tackle the blaze in Cowley Drive, Woodingdean.

The fire service said: “Crews used four breathing apparatus and two hosereel as well as a fan to disperse the smoke after the fire was put out.

“One woman was given oxygen therapy after suffering from smoke inhalation.”

A spokesman said that the cause of the fire was believed to have been accidental.

The call-out came shortly before 4.30pm.
