Fire at Fish at Hove end of Shoreham Harbour was accidental
The fire at offices in the fish market yard at the Hove end of Shoreham Harbour last night started by accident, fire investigators said this morning (Friday 17 January).
Six fire engines were called to tackle the blaze in the two-storey office building belonging to Brighton and Newhaven Fish Sales, in Basin Road South, in Aldrington Basin and next to Hove Lagoon.
The alarm was raised just before 7.30pm. Two hours later the fire was under control.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service sent crews from Hove, Preston Circus, Roedean and Lewes.
The fire service said: “The fire spread quite rapidly. It was in a two-storey building with a loft space.”
There were no reports of injuries in the fire which was well established by the time the first crews arrived.
