Big I Am Showcase: LaVendore Rogue

Like many similar nights, those there to see their friends brazenly chatted through others performances. This rendered opener Beth Morris all but inaudible. Those chatting through Goldie Reed’s set missed an emerging talent, mixing dark Americana with vampish Peggy Lee style torch songs and an excellent new song ‘Mr Rich’ which was very much in the vein of Bobbie Gentry’s 60s country soul. Thankfully, headliners LaVendore Rogue’s cranked up pomp rock drowned out the talkers with familiar yet enjoyable four-to-the-floor stompers, boosted by a great keyboard and guitar combination. A great line-up that deserved a more respectful audience.
