Woman treated after kitchen fire in Brighton

A woman was treated with oxygen after a kitchen fire at a property in Woodingdean yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 21 January).

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that firefighters from Roedean in Brighton and Newhaven were called out shortly before 4.30pm yesterday to reports of a kitchen fire.

They went to an address in Cowley Drive in Woodingdean.

The fire service said: “Crews used four breathing apparatus and two hose reel as well as a fan to disperse the smoke after the fire was put out.

“One woman was given oxygen therapy after suffering from smoke inhalation.

“The fire was accidental.”
