Big Daddy Vs Giant Haystacks
Having seen this paean to the heyday of Seventies wrestling almost two years ago, it was refreshing to see how well-honed the production has become. Ross Gurney-Randall’s affable Big Daddy and Dave Mounfield’s gormless Haystacks come across as giant pawns to their agents’ desires and whims, as the duo deftly play a huge cast including Margaret Thatcher, Paul McCartney and Princess Margaret, among others. The sharp script by Brian Mitchell and Joseph Nixon ensure plenty of laughs mixed with poignant pathos. Guaranteed nostalgia for those that remember shouting “Easy! Easy! Easy!” and a fascinating insight for those too young to recall.
