Samantha Crain
The Oklahoman returned to Brighton with her third album ‘Kid Face’ hot off the press. Accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, she displayed a light touch with impressive picking skills most notably on the fortune cookie-inspired ‘Teaspoon In The Morning’. A natural raconteur, she regaled us with tales from her travels, many of which formed the foundations of her country-folk flavoured songs. A superb work-in-progress, telling of being stranded in the shell of a former boom town, showed a world-weary side beyond her years and the generous set ended with the catchy old favourite ‘Lions’. A great way to wile away a grotty Tuesday.
