Protest The Hero
The progressive metal of Protest The Hero was an enthralling barrage, and the lively sold out crowd provided the perfect shelter from the storm raging outside. Vocalist Rody Walker was a fantastic showman, leading singalongs and encouraging people to share a drink on stage. The band impressively managed to avoid sounding like an overly-widdly technical mush, with the frantic songs packed with hooks and u-turns and solos, impressively held together in melodic songs. Their set was a little short unfortunately, due to the increasingly prevalent custom of a 10 o’clock curfew, but they packed enough energy into 70 minutes to leave a powerful impression on the contented metal-loving crowd.
