Celebcity: Sally goes wild, Tenth Grammy Award for Adele
Sally Gunnell supports Sussex Wildife Trust initiative, Peter Andre’s name-calling, & it’s a perfect 10 for Adele
Sally Goes Wild
Our very own local Olympic champion Sally Gunnell OBE, visited Sussex Wildlife Trust’s Woods Mill nature reserve last week to support a training initiative funded by The Prince’s Countryside Fund (PCF).
Sally is an ambassador for the PCF, a scheme that supports rural areas of the country, to date giving over £3.3 million in grants distributed to over 75 projects in the UK.
The PCF is funding a three-year traineeship with Sussex Wildlife Trust and Sally met with the current trainee Sam Buckland on her visit. Open to young people living in, or close to Sussex, the one-year volunteer training scheme enables Sam to gain valuable skills and practical conservation experience to improve his employment prospects in the countryside.
The Sussex Wildlife Trust is now looking for a new trainee to start the second year-long placement in April 2014. For further details please contact Mark Monk-Terry on 01273 492630.
On the initiative, Sally commented: “It is a great pleasure to meet beneficiaries of the Fund and find out first-hand about the remarkable work that is going on to preserve our beautiful landscape and ensure future generations are equipped with the skills to continue this. Projects such as this one, funded by The Prince’s Countryside Fund, enable young people to get a much needed foot on the employment ladder, and acquire the skills and qualifications crucial to pursue rural based careers, a field in which there are limited training opportunities available.”
Perfect Ten For Adele
Huge congrats to the genius songstress Adele who has won the TENTH Grammy award of her career. The singer received the award for Bond theme ‘Skyfall’ in the cleverly-titled Best Song from A Movie category. This brings Skyfall’s haul of gongs to an impressive three including the Oscar and the Golden Globe. The understated star didn’t bother turning up for the ceremony, instead choosing to Tweet her acceptance speech from her bed saying: ‘Wish I was there! Thank you for the grammy! (My 10th one! Whhaaa?) Have a wonderful night. I’m in bed, now feeling very restless x.’ Adele, we could NOT
love you more (unless you play Brighton Pride 2014 that is…).
What’s In a Name?
This week brings news that international celeb and local business owner Peter André has proposed to his girlfriend and babymamma Emily MacDonagh. Pete popped the question on New Year’s Eve as the loved up pair languished in the nursery at home. They announced the news this week together with information on the dramatic dash to the hospital with Emily being stuck in their car four hours from hospital and going into full labour. The couple also let slip that Pete wasn’t at the business end as his second daughter was delivered. The baby remains unnamed – c’mon Peter get it sorted!
