Brighton College pupils dance their way to fundraising success
A group of enterprising pupils at Brighton College have raised £4000 for the Rockinghorse Children’s Charity.
A host of activities including a series of raffles and cake sales helped raise the much needed funds and the pupils even put on their very own version of Strictly Come Dancing!
The group of girls from Chichester House worked alongside the school’s Dance Department to put on a show-stopping evening of entertainment with first-class performances.
Special guest star, and head judge for the evening, Zoe Ball added a magical sprinkling of glitter to the occasion and showed her support for the pupils.
Six couples took to the stage accompanied by the college’s Swing Band and a fabulous evening was had by all.
The funds raised will help the Rockinghorse Children’s Charity, the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, and a vital supporter of the Trevor Mann Baby Unit, which specialises in the care of premature and sick new born babies.
Ryan Heal, Chief Executive, Rockinghorse Children’s Charity visited the school this week, meeting three pupils from Chichester House who helped lead the fundraising activities: “We are overwhelmed to receive a donation of £4,000.
“We raise money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment for which the funds will be used.
“A local charity such as ours simply would not exist without the support of local businesses and schools, such as Brighton College and we are forever thankful for their support.”
Brighton College pupils play a very active part each year in raising thousands of pounds for charity.
In 2013 alone, pupils raised more than £20,000 for local and national charities and every week dozens of pupils donate their time to help charitable organisations within their community.
